Cristina Greeven Cuomo toasted at Saks in Southampton

(NEW YORK) Cristina Greeven Cuomo's ponytail was still damp when she arrived at Saks Fifth Avenue in Southampton on Saturday for a girl's shopping party toasting both her new role as editor of Hamptons magazine and the venerable retailer's 80 years in the tony beachfront community. "When Cristina and I were kids, during the winter we would always bike to Saks because it was the place to go," said Fernanda Niven, Cuomo's best friend since they were five (and godmother to her daughter Bella), who hosted the laidback event with Samantha Boardman Rosen.

Clad in a Thread Social outfit accessorized with a vintage linen Fernanda Niven clutch, Cuomo nevertheless found herself throwing on an Armani Collezioni jacket--tags still attached--to ward off the a/c chill as she mingled with friends including Michelle Smith, Somers Farkas and Alison Brod. Even Rosen's son, Alexander, got into the swing of things, playfully trying on a pair of Tory Burch Reva flats. Taking full advantage of the special discount card handed out to guests that afternoon, however, was Peggy Siegal, who snuck away from the racks of Tory and Tahari to invade the makeup counter. "I want you to know I'm shopping!" she pointed out to Cuomo as she stocked up on Trish McEvoy and Laura Mercier. JIM SHI
